Staying Connected and Falling in Love via Email
July 19th, 2011
Thank you to Yahoo! Mail for sponsoring this post about staying connected. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

When I opened my first email account in 1997, I never imagined that it would become such an important part of my everyday life; making it possible for me to connect with family and friends across the Pacific Ocean, conduct business with companies across the world and correspond with my children’s teachers right down the road.
Over the years, my Yahoo! Mail account has seen it all. The good, the bad and the ugly. Tickets purchased to my first MLB game. Letters of encouragement during a difficult divorce. Photos from family and friends; a few of them rather incriminating if I do say so myself. A break-up email that brought me to tears.
And 652 love letters from some guy I met at the ballpark during the summer of 2007.
Love. It almost always happens when you least expect it.
George was God’s answer to my prayer. Honest. Kind. Intelligent. A man of courage and integrity. We met on the softball field, had our first date in the last pew of our little white church and fell in love under a veil of stars on a warm Kentucky summer night.
It was a whirlwind romance, to say the least.
Mindful of my love and dedication to my children, George included them in our dates; treating us all to a fun afternoon of go-carts, bowling and more. He embraced my little family and fell in love with us all.

And one afternoon George did the unthinkable when he asked my 12-year old son for my hand in marriage.
The genesis of our friendship, evolution of our relationship and lifetime commitment, the trials we’ve faced and memorable moments we’ve made during our first few years together have been woven into the 652 love letters I’ve collected.
Our very own twenty-first century chronicle of love.
Timid and shy emails marking the beginning of our relationship.
Promises made.

Letters of longing during a 12-month deployment to Afghanistan.
Exciting news we’d been longing for.

And 652 reminders of our unshakable love.

I love this short video from Yahoo! Mail so much that I just had to share it with you…
