The Heartbeat of Charlotte's Urban Jungle

The Heartbeat of Charlotte’s Urban Jungle

Each and every city across the U.S. has its own vibe, the heartbeat of the urban jungle – its people.

One of the things I love most about traveling to new cities is hitting the streets with my camera and experiencing it in an organic way – taking in the sights, meeting new people and discovering hidden gems.

Charlotte, North Carolina is vibrant and colorful; so full of life.

It was my pleasure to photograph Uptown Charlotte with my friend, Amanda of Parenting by Dummies.

Amanda is sassy, sweet and a whole lot of fun. She’s also an expert photo bomber as well.

Charlotte may be the second largest financial center in the U.S., but I’ll forever remember it as a friendly city and feast for the eyes.

Streets teeming with fruit stands,

and beautiful pedestrians with killer smiles.

The People Of Charlotte were friendly and willing to be photographed; throwing up signs and flashing behinds.

There’s no doubt about it, the people of Charlotte are the heartbeat of this vibrant and colorful city. I certainly hope to return again someday.

I’m all about photographing people I meet during my travels. What do you enjoy photographing when traveling to new cities?

Ok, I want to do a photo walk!!! I love it that you got to do one with Amanda! I’m going to have to round up a few of my fellow photographers here in Atlanta and go for it!

You really should! It’s so much fun! I can’t wait to go on another. :)

Wow! Don’t get me wrong, I love ALL of your photo series – nature, landscapes, family, seasons – but this is by far my favorite. I see faces I can relate to, people who could be the girl/guy next door. More, please! :D

Awww, thanks Amarie! I love photographing everyday people on the street. It’s something I love to do and hope to have the opportunity to shoot now that I’m no longer living in a tiny rural town! :)

I SO loved this. I am a total fan of Charlotte, NC and you guys definitely captured it’s vibe here. For some reason I was so drawn into the up-close pictures of the berries…just beautiful!!!

Thanks, Nicole! I lived in North Carolina for several years, but never made it out to Charlotte while I was living in the state. After my recent trip I kind of want to kick myself in the behind for not visiting Charlotte all of those years!

Great photos! When I go to a new city I love taking pictures of the main sites, but I also like to sneak in a few of the people too. A couple of years ago in Rome, I snapped some photos of this guy dressed as a gladiator near the Trevi Fountain. He was smoking a cigarette and talking on his cell phone. I just thought it was so funny — mainly because it was such a clash of “then and now.” Gladiators didn’t have cell phones! Anyway, I recently found your blog via Twitter. I’m also attending BlissDom this year!! Glad to have discovered another photographer!

That sounds like an awesome photo op! In fact, just reading your comment and visualizing it all in my head makes me smile. :) Thanks so much for stopping by, Denene! I hope we’ll run into each other at Blissdom. I’m super excited about attending!
