Orange {Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge}

Here in small town Missouri, autumn doesn’t disappoint.

Cinnamon and coriander waft through the cool, crisp air. Leaves float about in the breeze. And trees bid adieu; their branches bursting in a symphony of color – red, brown, purple and yellow.

But orange? Well, orange remains elusive around these parts; fleeing at a moment’s notice. Winter is coming! Winter is coming!

Only a few stragglers are left behind in the frenzy. Some of them, clinging for dear life.

Others hide in the background; their color barely recognizable – like a whisper in the wind.

Orange may be elusive around these parts, but I’m smarter than orange.

And creative.

Autumn Photography Tip:

Gather a few autumn leaves, tape them to a clean window and photograph them when it’s sunny out. The sunlight will reveal a variety of deep, bold colors.

Like orange.

Yellow-orange, orange-yellow, pumpkin orange, red-orange, burnt orange. Oh so lovely…orange!

And if orange continues to be elusive, maybe your neighbor will stop by with a beautiful bouquet of beauties like these.

Bold, beautiful, oh so elusive orange…

…………………….

I’m teaming up with the lovely and talented Rebecca of Bumbles and Light and Alicia of Project Alicia for the Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge – a colorfully inspiring autumn photography challenge aimed at capturing the beautiful shades of autumn.

Just a few details:

All are welcome regardless of experience, time commitment and whether or not you’re experiencing fall at the moment.

Simply share your favorite images inspired by the autumn shade of the week each Friday and grab our button while you’re at it.

The linky will remain open from 12:01am CST Friday – 11:59pm CST Wednesday. Link directly to your Shades of Autumn blog post or Flickr photo. Feel free to share your photos in our Shades of Autumn Flickr Group and Shades of Autumn Pinterest Board as well.

We’ll select our favorite photos of the week and share them with you at Bumbles & LightProject Alicia and Live and Love Out Loud the following Thursday.

Love your tip for photographing leaves against a window! Orange was incredibly hard! I saw lots of pumpkins, unfortunately, they were WHITE!!!! LOL

I won’t get to see you today but I’ll be at Show Me the Blog tomorrow.

Kristi (3460 comments) twitter: @TweetingMama

That’s hilarious, about the pumpkins! lol Daenel, I don’t know if you’ve already heard on Twitter or on my FB fan page, but I decided not to attend the conference. My grandfather is terminally ill and not expected to make it through the weekend. I just felt like I couldn’t gather myself to be the happy, ready-to-learn-and-network person that I need to be. I’m so sorry that I won’t be able to meet you at the conference. I do have tickets for Bloggy Boot Camp in STL in April though. Hopefully we’ll be able to meet up then. Have fun and report back to me when you get back. I wanna hear all about it!

I was out of town on Friday and wasn’t able to link-up as early as I usually do… yeah, orange was surprisingly difficult. You’d think it would be everywhere this time of year but I had to be quite intentional about it -which is why I love this photography challenge so much! I can’t wait to go out and buy some fall photography inspiration later this week… anyhow – LOVE that tip. I hadn’t thought of photographing leaves like that.
