Crazy Days of Summer Photo Challenge Week Twelve: Blue Skies
Blue skies are usually abundant during the summer months here in small town Missouri, but more and more lately our blue skies have looked…well…gray. It seems that Mother Nature just can’t make up her mind.
Overcast one day. Stormy the next.

And then stormy again. And again. And again.
Mother Nature has been extremely fickle around these parts as of late. Of course it was just my luck that I was sick as a dog when she finally decided to cooperate.
Too sick to really make an effort to capture anything exciting.
See what I mean?
Of course there’s this photo of my daughter, Alana, grinning from ear to ear as my husband tossed her in the air. Over and over again.
If only I had double checked my settings and used my prime lens instead of my dusty, should-have-been-cleaned kit lens. Oh well. Live and learn.
And hope for blue skies in the near future here in small town Missouri.
Speaking of small town Missouri… How about a tour courtesy of some old photos I dug out of my archives? You’ll be thrilled to see that they’re filled with blue skies. However, I must warn you that these photos were captured when I was too much of a chicken to turn the dial on my Nikon from auto to manual. Those days have since passed, but I digress.
Without further ado, welcome to small town Missouri…
Where back country roads twist and turn their way along farm lands and cow pastures.
Rivers, lakes, streams and creeks are teeming with wildlife.
Fields of wildflowers rejoice in the warm sun.
Abandoned barns are more than just dilapidated reminders of the past.
And old abandoned Civil War homes are steeped in history and have the power to give me goosebumps every.single.time.
Speaking of goosebumps, I had a serious case of it while shooting the Bates-Geers Home on Slabtown Road in which is featured above. When I uploaded my photos later on that afternoon, I noticed a figure in the bottom left portion of the home, just below the eaves. I’d love to know what you think. Is it a weird play of shadows and light or possibly a figure of a resident from the past? Feel free to right-click on the image and open it in a new tab to take a closer look. I’m dying to know what you think.
…………………….
