Mother Nature is a B*tch (Wordless/Wordful Wednesday)
Before I get this Wordless and Wordful Wednesday party started…
I wanted to let you know that I’m teaming up with Alicia from Project Alicia to bring you a super fun weekly summer meme called the Crazy Days of Summer Photo Challenge. I’d love for you to join us on Friday, June 24th. Stop by and share your favorite photos inspired by the upcoming theme, “yellow.” Details here.
Mythical or not, I’ve got a bone to pick with Mother Nature.
Look, I’ll be the first to say that I love nature. I’m taken aback by the beauty that surrounds us here in small town Missouri. Beautiful flowers. Refreshing creeks teeming with life. Lovely sunsets. Heck, even the weeds are drop-dead gorgeous.
But sometimes Mother Nature can really be a b*tch.
Last Thursday, I slaved away in my yard; stacking firewood for two and a half hours. Two and a half hours of my life that I’ll never get back!
Born and raised in Hawaii, boogie boarding, hiking and laying in the sand is my idea of a good time. Stacking firewood? Not so much. But I did it. And you know what? I was really proud of myself.
I still am.
Who cares that I had no clue as to how firewood should be stacked. Or that I foolishly wore slippers/flip flops while stacking firewood along the edge of our woods, placing my foot just 6-inches away from a copperhead snake’s tail. Lucky for me, he was none the wiser.
Suffice it to say, stacking firewood for two and a half hours was no walk in the park. I got sweaty, almost stepped on a poisonous snake and got more splinters stuck in my hand than I’d care to admit, but I did it.
I. stacked. firewood.
And then Mother Nature rolled through small town Missouri with 70mph winds and knocked it down.
And then, to add insult to injury, she smashed the hell out of my van’s windows.
Mythical being or not, that b*tch better pay my insurance deductible. And if she knows what’s good for her, she’ll re-stack my firewood.
Has Mother Nature done anything b*tchy in your neck of the woods lately? Do share.
