Let There Be Light...And a Really Messy Room (Wordless/Wordful Wednesday) - Live and Love...Out Loud

Let There Be Light…And a Really Messy Room (Wordless/Wordful Wednesday)

“If you look deep within you will find a brilliant light. Too many – far too many – squint and turn away from the shine. Let your eyes adjust and bathe in the radiance.” – Author Unknown

Let there be light

We are women.

We have the power to shine.

To fill the dark corners of the world with our radiant light.

To encourage and empower each other.

To bask in the light of women who inspire.

And to shine our light on women who encourage and empower others.

Join me on Friday as I celebrate one of our own – an everyday woman whose light shines as a source of encouragement and empowerment to women like you and me. It’s the first edition in a new monthly series I’m kicking off this year and it’s called Women Who Empower. To learn more about the Women Who Empower series and to nominate a woman who inspires you, visit the Women Who Empower page in the menu above.

…………………………………….

And now I’d like to shine a little bit of light on a young man who inspires.

Messy teenInspires me to blackmail him, that is.

My son thought it was a great idea to throw everything on his person either on the floor or on his bed this afternoon when he came home from school. I’ve had it with the mess. I’m tired of asking him to pick up his stuff. He is 15 years old which means he should be a little more responsible.

It also means that he’s fair game when it comes to blackmailing.*insert evil, bad mom laugh here*

So here it is: a photo of his clothes, textbooks, notebooks, SHOES, loose change – you name it, it’s there – on his bed. I’m sure that posting this photo will be encouragement enough for him to get moving and start picking up his stuff.

Teenagers…

Teen's messy room (I'm blackmailing my son.)

Actually – I have seen worse – in the room right next to where I sit this very moment – my DS’s room. YUCK! Love the light bulb image – let’s all shine on in 2011 (in an ecologically friendly way OF COURSE!).

Love the light bulb photo! And if my kids can make the kind of mess that they’ve got down in their room now, I shudder to think what the mess will be like when they get to be teenagers… Sigh. ;)

I’m super excited about the new things you are doing this year. Your Women Who Empower project sounds awesome.

Currently, my seven year old’s bed is worse that that (and she is sleeping in it anyway) feel free to hid this comment from your son….and to send a maid to my house. ;-)

The lightbulb pic is also awesome. A whole lot of awesome you have going on here.

I hope the blackmail works too. As for the Women Who Empower post, I’m only doing it once a month. I figured it might be easier for me to manage if it’s not a weekly feature. And I’m looking to Friday’s post as well. Need to start writing it! Eek! lol Thanks for stopping by and linking up Dagmar.

Sarafree (5 comments)

I’m looking forward to seeing your Women who empower series. As for the teenager, I believe my children are on that path to complete bedroom havoc (if my house is an measure of their abilities to create a mess). Is it a boy thing? Are girls neater by nature???

Kristi (4349 comments) twitter: @TweetingMama

My teenage daughter is extremely neat, but my 7 year old daughter is a slob! Going into her room is hazardous to one’s health!

B (1 comments)

If that is what you consider a messy teenage room…oh boy…I wouldn’t want you to see what mine looked like at his age! LOL I’d like to tell you he will outgrow it but I must confess that I still have my (very) cluttered ways.

Kristi (4349 comments) twitter: @TweetingMama

Take a photo, Lish. Do what you do best and snap that pic! :)

Bibi (10 comments)

Believe it or not that doesn’t hold a candle to my BFF’s teenage daughter room.

I try not to visit my teen’s room often for the same reason. The kids will take shower and change his clothes 50 times a day, but the room is a war zone.

Stopping by to say Hi from SITs.

That’s a great idea! Though maybe I should have it printed on one of those wearable billboards. I could show up at his school wearing the billboard while still in my pajamas, hair totally unruly and of course I can’t forget about the morning breath! I love being parent…

Mrs. Jen B (9 comments) twitter: @MrsJenBardall

The shoes! The shoes! Oh gross!!!! Although I have to tell you, if I showed this picture to my 16 year old brother he’d probably ask your son how he manages to keep things so neat and tidy.

Maybe it’s a man thing – my husband will put shoes on the bed when he *thinks* I’m not looking, just to get them out of the way when he’s looking for something else. He acts like I’m crazy for having a problem with this.

Kristi (4349 comments) twitter: @TweetingMama

I cannot stand the shoes on the bed! It infuriates me.

My mom always threatened me when I was little that she was going to show pictures of my messy room to my grandma! She took the pics and kept them. For all I know, she probably showed them to my grandma anyway, but I was horrified. Hope it works for you!

I like the close-up of the light bulb. It’s interesting how such everyday objects can become artwork.

And the messy bed is all too familiar ;)

Kristi (4349 comments) twitter: @TweetingMama

I thought so too, though it did hurt my eyes after photographing it. lol

Verena (131 comments) twitter: @vbeautifulworld

Kristi, I know I already wrote it yesterday, but I´m very excited about your upcoming fridays!!! You are awesome!

Oh and I totally know what you mean with the mess in your son´s room. If I would blackmail my son he would be so embarressed. So maybe I should do it, too to get him starting to tidy his room…

Have a wonderful and happy WW.
Hugs,
Verena

Kristi (4349 comments) twitter: @TweetingMama

Blackmailing mothers, UNITE!

Nancy (14 comments) twitter: @WhispersInspire

Oh Kristi, you totally give me insight on what having a teenager is going to be like. The mess looks typical and kinda neat in a messy way for a teenage boy, I’d imagine anyhow. Though, you are raising great kids and I’m sure that has tons to do with it. I love your pics and your craft. You are a great photographer.

Some people got it and some people don’t.

Hehe and I keep trying!

Take care girl, I look forward to more and to what’s to come from you m’dere!
