Mystery Solved – It Isn’t Chicken Crumbs!

in Mystery Photo,Photography

Mystery Photo #5Yesterday, you were challenged to take a wild guess as to what this week’s mystery photo might be. One of the things I love about doing these Mystery Photos is the wild and crazy guesses you come up with. Here are a few of my favorites…

  • macaroons
  • Pop Rocks
  • sweet potatoes
  • Play-Doh
  • Squand (aka the Magic Sand of the 1990′s)

You never cease to amuse me with your guesses. My number one favorite guess this week? “Chicken crumbs”, submitted by Mizhelle of Life Can’t Wait.

Chicken crumbs? Guess again.

This week’s Mystery Photo is actually melted white chocolate (with red food coloring) that proceeded to separate and harden within a few short minutes. I made a batch with food coloring and without, but it made no difference. The melted chocolate hardened every.single.time.

And it ruined the cake balls I attempted to make during a recent I-want-to-be-just-like-Bakerella fit. Truth be told, my cake balls looked like crap. And if you ask me, it’s Bakerella’s fault.

My failed Bakerella cake ball(FYI: No one took a bite out of this cake ball. It was just that craptastic.)

And the winners are…

Though no one guessed “melted chocolate”, I’m going to award the crappy t-shirt badge to those of you who guessed “cake balls” instead. Congratulations to Nancy, Amy, PippaDHANAN, Sarah, Pamela and Joanne.

You came.

You guessed.

You got it right. Sort of.

And now you’ve got a crappy souvenir t-shirt to prove it.

You can thank me later.

*You’ve got to head on over and read all about my crappy cake balls. Did I mention it’s Bakerella’s fault?

I also learned the hard way that you can not add anything to candy melts. It causes it to seize up, but I don’t know why it would do that if you hadn’t added anything.

What is the deal with the candy melts?!? Those cake balls gave me even more gray hair. I’m sure of it!

Brilliant macro. Who woulda thunk it. Sorry the balls didn’t turn out as brilliant. I’m sure they were still yummy.

Thanks Lish! I’m thinking you could totally rock those cake balls out. You seem to be a lot more gifted around the kitchen than I am. How ’bout you make them and I come over and eat them? :)

My mom had the EXACT same thing happen to her white chocolate she tried to melt last week! The pink threw me off. Nicely done! You should make this a blog hop, I would definitly join up with random shots :)

From what I’ve been told so far, we used the wrong stuff. We need to try the melting candies. Pass that on to your mom. :) Oh and thanks for the mystery photo blog hop idea. I may have to work on that!

Ha! I wanted to be like Bakerella too! Now I’m scared to try. I should stick to ugly desserts, much more talented in that arena.

Haha! I say go for it. I’m going to attempt the cake balls again at some point. I’ll have to pick my pride off the floor first though. ;)

I love that badge! You are so creative. Do you design all those things yourself? Pretty cool.
