Project Smile: My Umbrella of Smile-Worthy Moments

“The world always looks brighter from behind a smile.” – Author Unknown

Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Dark clouds filled with deadlines, expectations, doubt and disappointment roll through sometimes; threatening to rain down on our pretty little picnic at a moment’s notice. During moments like these we have one of two options: Sit there in the rain eating our soggy sandwich. Or, seek shelter from the storm under an umbrella.

An umbrella of heartwarming, smile-worthy moments. Moments that make our world a little bit brighter. Moments like these…

Receiving flowers from the hubby for no reason at all. Sweet, simple and totally unexpected. Flowers always bring a smile to my face.

The pretty Playdough “cookies” my 7-year old Maya made for me. I remember doing the same thing for my Mom. It’s amazing how some of the sweet things we did for our mothers come around full circle when we become mothers ourselves.

Watching a huge flock of geese fly overhead as the first snow arrived. I’m assuming they were headed south for the winter. Who knows? Who cares. It was an amazing sight, that’s for sure.

Looking on as my 3 older children laughed hysterically while wrestling each other in the living room. It just warms my heart when they spend their time together not fighting. Can I get an amen?

Wisps of curly brown hair dancing in the wind. It wasn’t an earth shattering moment, but something about watching Alana’s sun-kissed hair dance in the wind made me smile.

My 13-year old daughter Alyssa, making dinner for the entire family one night. I was floored when she offered to take over and make dinner for us all. It had been a particularly rough day, so I was more than happy to step back and let her play chef. It wasn’t a gourmet meal, but it was certainly made with love.

And finally, the beautiful sunset I witnessed from my lanai (pronounced “luh-nigh”; Hawaiian, for balcony or deck) last week. Talk about gorgeous!

Gorgeous sunset, missouri sunset

Thank goodness for the heartwarming, smile-worthy moments that act as an umbrella when life rains all over our pretty little picnic.

The geese were so cool to watch flying by. There were actually a couple hundred of them. The flock was massive!

Loved your smiles. TweetingBaby is just adorable and what a great thing for your daughter to make dinner!

I love seeing the geese fly. Every year they take flight from our small little pond just above our roof so we get an up close view of them flying over from our living room window. I love it. We have had an overabundance of birds lately. You can hardly drive through them. You certainly can’t drive through them without getting some drippings on your windows which the boys think is hilarious!
I love that sunset too! Beautiful smiles, beautiful lady!

How funny. We used to live on a pond years ago in North Carolina. The geese would come and go. I remember one time the pond had frozen over and a flock came in to land in the pond and they all just bounced off the icy surface. It was hilarious. The abundance of poop on the windows though, not so much. lol Thanks for stopping by Tayarra. Have a great day.
