Child Sexual Abuse – I’ll Never Forget What He Did To Me

I’ll Never Forget What He Did To Me

The thought of another child being abused angers me.

That people are capable of such heinous injustices against children, sickens me.

My heart breaks for every child that has been violated and robbed of all that is innocent and pure.

My heart bleeds for every child whose abuse was ignored and swept under the rug.

I cry for those who remain silent.

I cry for those who lay awake at night, paralyzed by fear.

You are not alone.

We’ll stand side by side.

Survivors.

Never victims.

We’ll never forget what they did to us.

Did you know?

  • One in four girls and one in six boys is sexually abused before the age of 18.
  • An estimated 39 million survivors of childhood sexual abuse exist in America today.
  • 30-40% of victims are abused by a family member.
  • Another 50% are abused by someone outside of the family whom they know and trust.

The numbers don’t lie. Visit Darkness to Light to learn more about identifying and preventing sexual abuse in children.

Kristi, This sounds near and dear to your heart. And these statistics are alarming! It is indeed something that should be addressed more. My heart aches for those children who are victimized.

The statistics are really alarming, aren’t they? It’s so unbelievably disturbing. Having survived sexual abuse, it just scares me to the core that my anyone could even think of hurting my children. Thanks for stopping by and reading my post Lish. Hope your weekend is off to a great start! :)

I’m sorry you had to go through this. And I’m sorry for all the other children out there who go through it. It’s just awful.

It’s such an awful thing. Thankfully, I made it through the experience in one piece and came out on the other side okay. But it’s just a shame that it happens to children in the first place. Breaks my heart. Thanks for stopping by Kaitlin. Sorry for the downer post. :( Hope your weekend is off to a great start.

Those statistics are sickening. Thanks for the important reminder and for your bravery. It’s our job to protect our kids. No matter who or what.

Oh, this scares the crap out of me everyday, I look at K and beg for her not to experience this. I wrote about this too.

It was hard for me growing up because I was molested, I was not raped, nobody understood that I had the same feelings. Abuse is abuse, no matter to what degree or the gender of the abuser.

I’m so sorry that you experienced that. I’m right there with you! You’re so right. Abuse is abuse, no matter the degree or the gender of the abuser. What happened to us is in the past and all we can do is protect our children and speak for those who can’t. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing with me. I really appreciate it.

Sexual abuse of children gives me the shivers. Knowing how traumatic and life changing sexual assault can be, I can’t imagine how children survive the ordeal. Props to you for using your voice to shed awareness on the subject.

This is one of my biggest fears with my children. It angers me to the core to think that someone would do such a thing to a child or another human being. It’s real, it’s alarming and we need to be the change…for our kids!

Hugs Kristi! xoxo, Sarah

I’m right there with you Sarah! It scares and angers me that there are sick people in the world who prey on children. If only this were a perfect world… Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you’re enjoying your staycation on Lana’i. :)

Those statistics scare me! It’s sad, but as my child gets older, I am afraid I will be a skeptical, question-asking supervisor of my boy’s friends, family members and whereabouts. Thank you for the attention to this topic.

You know what Kristy? I don’t blame you. In fact my husband and I are very protective of our kids. You just never know what could happen. Unfortunately, there are so many sick people in the world. Thanks so much for stopping by Kristy. Hope you’ve had a great weekend.

You have inspired me to do a blog on this myself. Thank you for putting the number out there and making people more aware of these survivors. Hugs!

It makes me so sad to see those statistics. That is way too many children who have had to go through something so awful. I’m glad you made it out ok. Not without scars, I’m sure. The other tragedy is that so often it is something that affects generations. My grandmother was abused and while she didn’t pass that abuse on, it so affected her mothering, which in turn affected my mother. Thank you for sharing this.

Kristi (3460 comments) twitter: @TweetingMama

You’re so right Stacey, a lot of times sexual abuse in children affects generations. In my case, the person who abused me was also abused by his father as a child. He grew up and began to abuse his children and members of the extended family (like myself). If he’d had the help he needed as a child, it’s possible that the abuse could’ve stopped with him. Thankfully, I received the help that I needed. Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting on this post. I really appreciate it.

Kristi, this is so powerful.

I stand beside you, survivor, strong, speaking for those who do not yet have a voice, never forgetting.

Thank you so much Tracie. I’m glad you enjoyed this post. It means a lot to me. It means even more to be able to relate to another survivor. Thank you so much for your kind words and for your email as well. :) Have a great weekend.
